Despite the terrible choice of locations I pre-planned from Australia by looking at an (inaccurate) map of the conference venue, most of the Critical Physiotherapy Network members who were at WCPT 2015 in Singapore were able to meet up during afternoon tea on the second day of the conference. A huge thank you to Carol McCrum for initiating the meet up. An wonderful group of critical minded physiotherapists were present. World Confederation of Physical Therapy Congress 2015
I had an absolute whirlwind day at the first day of the WCPT Congress in Singapore, starting at 7am with the Mental Health networking session and finally heading back to the hotel at 11.30pm from the @PTpubnight at the Berlin Bar. The best way to catch some of the feeling of being here is through twitter – have a look at the hashtag #WCPT2015 for dips into most of the sessions plus some social snippets as well. The overwhelming feeling here is that it is wonderful to be in such a global environment with delegates being able to learn from each other and constantly challenge local assumptions we make about what it is to ‘be a physiotherapist’. Getting critical at physio conferences
After I sent a message to the Critical Physiotherapy Network mailing list Dave suggested I also make a blog post out of my thoughts. So here it is. N.B. those of you on the mailing list may note that this post is not very different from the email but please note that we do have an new proposed speaker joining us: Ian Edwards. Also the links to the conference should actually work here! As far as I know there has never been a dedicated critical physiotherapy session at a physiotherapy conference to date.
