If a subscription is levied, funds collected should support things that many members can benefit from. It could be a conference, but could be broader. It might mean a meeting of members for a specific purpose or subscription costs of software to run the website host an online meeting or produce podcasts. Though these fees are not necessarily very large often people pay for a subscription as an individual if they cannot access the software through an institution.
Might it be helpful to open an donation or gifting link on the website so that individuals could give what they feel able, when they feel able. Eg a lecture fee or honorarium might be donated.
I would hope that, just as you have attempted and organised meetings at international events such as WCPT, we will soon be so far up and into the radar, we will be the ones invited to host a plenary session
