colloquium n. an informal gathering for discussion
If you’re in or around the UK on 5 July and want to spend a day exploring critical physiotherapy with other CPN members, why not join us at a CPN colloquium in Cardiff?
Date/time: Wednesday 5 July 2017, 1000 – 1630 (exact time to be confirmed)
Venue: Cardiff University
The colloquium is an event organised and hosted by CPN members for CPN members. There will be no charge to attend, but you will need to bring a packed lunch!
The Cardiff colloquium will run in parallel with the CPN salon in Cape Town… and because there is only a 1-hour time difference, we hope that technology will allow us to make a live connection between the two sites for part of the day.
If you’re interested in attending the CPN colloquium in Cardiff or have some ideas about topics you’d like to share and/or discuss, please log in to the site and ‘leave a reply’ to let us know.

This is an excellent idea! I’d be interested in joining you, I should be around UK then.

Thanks Anna I hope you will be able to join us in Cardiff – it will be great to meet you in person!
If you (or any other CPN members reading this post) have ideas about a theme for the symposium (bodies & professional identities/practices have been suggested as possible themes so far) &/or if you have a paper or piece of work in progress you’d like to present as part of the symposium – please message me via the CPN website. Thank you.
look forward to meeting you & other CPN members in Cardiff (& Cape Town) on 5 July – Gwyn

Great! It would be nice to meet you too, Gwyn, and any other critical physios out and about Cardiff (and Cape Town) on the 5th. It might have somehing to present on the theme Bodies & professional identities, but this would be (very much) a work-in-progress paper, although it would be nice to bounce some ideas off each other on it. Other themes I can think of (and perhaps give a paper on) would be Politics, resistance & critique in/for physiotherapy, Technologies and the body, Challenging conventions and complicity, Ethics, body and touch, and ‘Medical humanities’ in/for physiotherapy. Off the top of my head… Looking forward on the symposium! ~Anna

Hello Anna – your suggested topics are exciting & would generate plenty rich discussion. Thanks too for your offer to present – a work-in-progress paper would be an exciting format for generating critical conversations about physiotherapy, bodies & practices/identities – will be in touch to discuss the timing of that slot on the colloquium programme very soon – Gwyn
